Biography:
Born and raised in Mali, Soumba Keita graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy (FAPH) of University of Sciences, Techniques and Technology of Bamako (USTTB), in 2016 with a PharmD degree. Her interest in research was inspired from her PharmD research thesis which investigates the seasonal variation of hemoglobin parameters performed at the Rodolphe Charles Mérieux Laboratory in Bamako. In 2017, she was awarded a scholarship through USTTB-Johns Hopkins’ Fogarty research training program to pursue a master’s degree in public health at USTT_B. Her master thesis assessed the effect of nutritional status on the risk of clinical malaria among children under 5 years in high malaria endemic area of Dangassa, Mali, implemented at the West African International Center for Excellence in Malaria Research (ICEMR-WAF). Soumba was recruited as research assistant at the ICEMR-WAF program working on the effectiveness study of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC). This research experience helped her to co-authors 5 scientific papers and awarded of the ‘’Malaria and NTDs Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa’’ PhD. fellowship (MARCAD Plus. Her PhD research will focus on determinants of the effectiveness of antimalaria drug used in Seasonal Malaria among children under 5 years old in Mali. Soumba Keita contribution to sciences is determined by her participation in several national and international meetings as well as manuscripts from research she is involved.
