For More Information...

The Malaria Research Capacity Development (MARCAD) Consortium is a network of African research institutions launched in 2015 to support collaborative research led by Africa-based scientists. MARCAD aims to train a core group of African scientists in West and Central Africa, equipping them to provide relevant solutions for malaria control and elimination, ultimately contributing to health improvements across the continent.
The Consortium is managed by a Steering Committee, supported by a Research Committee and an Advisory Board. MARCAD is committed to supporting women and conducting high-quality research that translates into policy and practice.

Post Doc
Projet title: Using spatio-temporal dynamic of malaria to optimize control Interventions
Drissa has a medical doctor degree, a PhD degree in medical parasitology and entomology. He started working on malaria research programs since 1995.
He has been associate investigator or principal investigator for various epidemiological studies and for malaria vaccines clinical trials including pediatric trials. Despite the decline of malaria incidence consecutive to the scaling up of malaria controls strategies, it remains a public health concern in endemic areas particularly in the sub Saharan Africa. Recently the Malian National Malaria Control Program scaled up the seasonal malaria chemoprevention strategy and the Indoor Residual Spray strategy is foreseen in the Mopti region including Bandiagara health district. For the three coming year, as part of his MARCAD fellowship, Dr Coulibaly work will be focus on the updating of malaria epidemiological parameters including space and time characterization of symptomatic and asymptomatic malaria to better guide and optimize malaria control efforts. He will conduct a cohort study of 300 children aged 0 to15 years old.
Dr Coulibaly obtained the Fogarty International Center/ Ellison Medical Foundation fellowship in 2003; the Advanced Vaccinology course/ Mérieux Foundation fellowship in 2011, the International Advanced Course on Vaccinology in Asia-Pacific regions fellowship in 2013 and the MARCAD post doc fellowship in 2017. He has more than thirty publications in peer-review journals.
