Project title: Reproductive behavior, introgression and microbiota composition of An. coluzzii and An. gambiae species in Senegal: Innovative tools for malaria vector control in Senegal.

Biography:

Dr Oumou Kalsom Gueye is a medical entomologist at the Laboratoire d’Écologie Vectorielle et Parasitaire at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) where she held the post of research assistant. Dr Gueye has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Master’s Degree in Medical Entomology with specific focus on malaria obtained from the Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD). Her master was funded by the MCDC (Malaria Capacity Development Consortium) grant. Then she was awarded a PhD fellowship by the Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa (MARCAD) program where she worked on the speciation of the two major malaria vectors in Senegal An. coluzzii and An. gambiae. And actually, she gets a postdoctoral fellowship in the MARCAD Plus project (Malaria and Neglected Tropical disease Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa) with the thematic “Determination of the reproductive behavior, introgression and microbiota composition of An. coluzzii and An. gambiae species in Senegal: Innovative tools for malaria vector control in Senegal” where she seeks  to provide the needed information to develop new strategies for controlling the main malaria vectors in Senegal.
