MARCAD Plus at USTTB training on the NIH Biosketch format

MARCAD Plus fellows from the University of Sciences, Techniques, and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB), Mali, participated in a training on the NIH Biosketch format. The session was held on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, at the facilities of the Malaria Research and Training Center.

The training organized under the initiative of MARCAD Plus PI, Prof. Safiatou Niare Doumbo, aimed to strengthen the skills of Postdoctoral, PhD, and MSc fellows in preparing CVs according to the NIH Biosketch format.

The NIH Biosketch is a standardized format required by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for grant applications. It is designed to summarize an investigator’s qualifications, experience, and contributions to science, emphasizing both productivity and the relevance of their work to the proposed project.

During the meeting, Prof. Safiatou highlighted the importance for scientists to know how to prepare their CVs using the NIH format.

"According to the multiple calls made by the funders and the lack of good CVs in terms of miswriting some statements, it has been very important for us to train the scientists on how to prepare strong CVs with the right contents, stated the MARCAD Plus PI at USTTB.

The training enabled MARCAD Plus fellows to acquire skills in this important area. At the end of the session, all CVs were reviewed by the facilitators to ensure they were updated and ready for use.
