Africa Science Desk Pitching Workshop: Twenty journalists from Senegal and other Africans countries trained in science stories writing
The African Academy of Sciences (The AAS) in collaboration with the DELTAS Africa programme, MARCAD, held the first edition of the Africa Science Desk (ASD) Pitching Workshop, held in Dakar, Senegal from 11-12 July 2019. The workshop was part of a series of trainings to be held in ASD countries to build the Capacity of journalist to write science stories. It brought together twenty journalists from Senegal, Kenya, Mali, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Côte d'Ivoire.

International Workshop for Scientists on Community Engagement and University Career Management
Building Capacity of its fellows, training Senegalese and sub-regional teachers / researchers to better understand the concept of community engagement and to better manage their university career are the main objectives of MARCAD program (Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa).
Those were the motivation for MARCAD director Professor Oumar Gaye and his team to hold an international workshop to sensitize Scientists on community engagement and University Career Management. The event was held from 20 to 22 June 2019 at the Keur Socé Research and Training Center, Kaolack, Sénégal.
Congratulation to MARCAD PhD fellow Dr Abdullahi Ahmad for his new achievement at Harvard Medical School
MARCAD PhD fellow at the MRC Unit The Gambia, Dr Abdullahi Ahmad, has completed a one-year training program at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Boston, Massachusetts, USA, from 16th June 2018 to 3rd June 2019. This was funded through a partial tuition scholarship he won from HMS and his MARCAD PhD grant.
