DESCRIPTION OF FELLOWSHIPS

MARCAD seeks to train African scientists toward building a critical mass for the control and the elimination of malaria, equip them to compete effectively for international funding, offer them international exposure, and facilitate their networking and collaboration with other institutions.  Three MARCAD fellows will be hosted within strong interdisciplinary teams at one of the five African institutions, one PhD and two post-docs. Applications from female researchers are strongly encouraged.

Application procedure

Applications should be completed on the form appropriate to the scheme they are applying to, and with the appropriate supporting documents requested therein. Application forms are available on the MARCAD website  in English or in French. Candidates who have difficulty in accessing or completing this application should approach the MARCAD secretariat for advice (see contact address below).

The research proposal outline should give an indication of the area of research of interest of the candidate but this must also be compatible with the research interests of the Institution with which they wish to work. Information about the thematic areas of malaria research being conducted at each of the Institutions may be found on the partner pages of this website or by requesting further information from the contacts listed at the end of this document.

Selection procedure

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in-country by the local selection committee and recommendations made for funding by the MARCAD Steering Committee. Criteria on which selection will be based will include; past educational experience, evidence of a motivation and commitment to research, referees reports and the quality and originality of the proposed research proposal.
