Project title: Genetic structure of natural populations of An. gambiae and An. coluzzii for genetic control using the Gene Drive approach.
Biography:
Ndeye Seny Diagne holds a bachelor’s degree in biology chemistry and Geoscience at Cheikh Anta Diop university (UCAD-Senegal). She integrates the Laboratoire d’Ecologie Vectorielle et Parasitaire (LEVP-UCAD) as an intern. During this internship Ndeye Seny worked on An.gambiae population structure and human behaviour to understand malaria transmission in central and southern Senegal using PSC and HLC methods in the field for samples collection and molecular and Elisa assays into the Lab.
Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa (MARCAD) granted her a master's fellowship to conduct her research on the Genetic structure of natural populations of An. gambiae and An. coluzzii for genetic control using the Gene Drive approach. The main objective of her proposal is to study the genetic structure of wild populations of An. gambiae and An. coluzzii in Senegal to guide the decisions makers.
