MARCAD PhD fellow at the MRC Unit The Gambia, Dr Abdullahi Ahmad, has completed a one-year training program at Harvard Medical School (HMS), Boston, Massachusetts, USA, from 16th June 2018 to 3rd June 2019. This was funded through a partial tuition scholarship he won from HMS and his MARCAD PhD grant.
“I have acknowledged that research leaders cannot be “microwaved” so I challenged myself into acquiring a solid foundation upon which to build my research career. The GCSRT program at Harvard was an excellent platform to acquire such a foundation. Importantly, the statistics and data analysis skills I acquired during this program will help me complete my PhD training successfully. I wish to thank the MARCAD consortium immensely for providing me the opportunity to accomplish this feat” said Dr Ahmad.
The Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT) program at Harvard is a blended-learning approach that combines traditional face-to-face teaching, online lectures and interactive webinars to provide young researchers with advanced training in the methods and conduct of clinical research.
